Der nachfolgende Blogbeitrag ist rein englischsprachig … und sehr nerdig. — The following blog post describes how to transfer a living Raspbian (a/k/a Debian on a Raspberry Pi) that was installed via NOOBS, freeing it from the abstruse NOOBS partition scheme and then store it on a regular SD card with just a boot and a root partition.

The proposed method is extremely useful if you want to grow or shrink your Raspbian OS to a bigger or smaller SD card, or if you just want to backup your Raspi and not end up with a disk image that is sized like the entire SD card, even it was only half full. All three of these scenarios can usually be tackled e.g. with ApplePi-Baker v2, but it fails if your starting point was NOOBS. … As I googled for a HowTo like this and couldn’t find anything, I figured that other people might find this worth reading as well.

Mac OS X 10.5.6: „Still waiting for root device“

Ich sprach ja schon davon, dass das Update meines damaligen Dell-basierenden Hackintosh von 10.5.5 auf 10.5.6 vor allem daran scheiterte, dass die Kiste anschließend sein root-Filesystem nicht mehr fand.

Erstaunlicherweise fand ich durch Zufall einen spannenden Zusammenhang heraus: Es lag nicht, wie die meisten Forum-Postings besagten, am falschen Chipsatz-Treiber – no, Sir.

Vielmehr: Vom echten Mac gewohnt hatte ich im Rahmen meiner 10.5.5 OSx86-Installation die Partitionierung im GUID-Schema durchgeführt – was dem OS X 10.5.5 auch gar kein Problem machte.

Und jetzt der Clou: All die „Still waiting for root device“-Probleme waren wie weggeblasen, nachdem das 10.5.6 in ein MBR-Partitionsschema installiert wurde.

Nochmal in kurz:

  • 10.5.5 mit Voodoo-Kernel akzeptiert sowohl GUID- als auch MBR-Partitionsschema.
  • 10.5.6 mit Voodoo-Kernel scheitert am GUID-Partitionsschema, läuft aber mit MBR-Partitionsschema.

Ich wollt’s nur mal gesagt haben – im Ton der Sendung mit der Maus: „Klingt komisch, ist aber (bei mir) so.“
